Chrome Horse Company History

Dick Hewitt started his love affair with motorcycles and anything motorized as far back as he can remember.

At the age of sixteen, Dick's first motorcycle was a 1966 BSA 441 Victor and rode the hills and roads in Wakefield Massachusetts.  From an after school job at Pete and Bob’s Triumph Shop to the underground shops of Boston, Dick honed his skills as a performance engine builder.  He apprenticed with the world famous Digger Wells.

Dick was a general manager in the late eighties, of a large aftermarket shop in Peabody, Massachusetts called North Shore Motorcycle Center. Then on to the first of his own shops Performance Cycles, Seabrook, New Hampshire.

Prompted by his wife Marion they found their way to Palm City, FL away from the snow and cold of New Hampshire in 2000.  After three years in their home garage, Chrome Horse Performance opened its doors in February 2004.
